It is all about my obsession with travelling – talking of holidays on the beach in Famagusta, North Cyprus.
First a bit about me
as a traveller:
I am a traveller who likes to go to newer
places all the time. The world we live in is really a place to see. There are
so many beautiful places here. Even if one spends one’s all life then also it
would be difficult to visit and see all of those beautiful places which are
here on earth. Somewhere in the book I read once that “The earth is made
beautiful and everything in it has a secret that which never gets revealed.”
I have a few friends who always have no time to
go anywhere. They are the business professionals. They do not get time. In
fact, they do not try to find time to go out anytime. Since two years I have
been forcing my friends to accompany me on one of my tours but they had no
time. Just recently, a month back I contacted them and managed to persuade them
to come with me.
At the restaurant:
We had a meeting at the restaurant. And over dinner
we discussed where to go. We had so many options. One of our fellow friends
suggested that there can be no good place than Beijing in china. My other
friend suggested that there can be no good place to see than Cairo in Egypt.
Well, both of my friends suggested their viewpoint about those two places. We
were really in dilemma. Our purpose to be on special holidays was to lead an adventurous
life, at least for a few days. To fulfil such a purpose we wanted to be in a
place which can present to us a challenge at every step.
Talk on Northern
Cyprus by a stranger who joined us:
“A year back, I was on an island called North
Cyprus.” A person, sitting at the table next to ours, started speaking to us.
We were shocked whether he was really talking to us. We looked in his
direction. A friend of mine, Joseph Pereira, asked him with eyes narrowing at
him. “Are you talking to us?”
The man in the grey suit with a bow tie, a
little stubble on his face told yes. Before we could divert our attention from
his talk, he requested us whether he could join us at the table. We couldn’t
deny that. He sat there just opposite to me and drinking his beer, started talking
to us. “A year back I was in Famagusta in Northern Cyprus. It was an island
which I love to be even now. I heard you people were talking, deciding where to
go to for holidays. As I had a wonderful experience there in Northern Cyprus so
I thought why not suggest this to you all guys,” he abruptly stopped here and
asked the waiter to bring another glass of beer for him and asked us to whether
we would also like to have (we kindly denied).
He continued talking again, bragging about what
he had done there on the island and how his small sons enjoyed there etc. Intrigued
by his explanation, (on a historical monument by the name: Famagusta Castle) I
began to focus more on his words. In fact, I wanted to ask him whether the island
is only known for just historical importance or are there any other things that
can attract the visitors? I was about to
ask the same thing but, he, as if had sensed that, started saying this to all
that the island is not just known for its historical monuments but there are a
lot of things one can find. He said to us that the beaches in Northern Cyprus, especially
beaches in Famagusta and beaches in Kyrenia, were really good. He told us that
he had seen whole of the island but still there is a thirst in him to go there
and be there forever. He further told us that his holidays in Northern Cyprus
were really enjoyable and were something that he couldn’t forget all his life.
“I had very little budget and my wife and my
small children, porter and jimmy were just so excited to be somewhere for their
holidays,” he stopped here and looked at us. His eyes shone with some unknown

He paused here. The pause was longer this time. Perhaps, he was thinking of
what he could say more to us which could attract us and help us decide whether
to go or not.
“No matter when you go, you can have the certainty
of enjoying your holidays to the fullest,” said he, tapping a little with his
car-keys on the table. “Whether you opt for winter sun holidays or summer sun
holidays, you can have a lovely time. Winter or summer or any other season will
not affect your holidays.” His talk was of someone who works in a tourist
department. He was explaining about the place with such passion that we found
no option but to listen to him with unmatched enthusiasm and attention.
“I selected to stay there in one of the best Famagusta
hotels in Northern Cyprus,” he continued, sipping a little from his drink. “In
fact, there are plenty of hotels in North Cyprus if you would like to go for
the option of staying in one of the cheapest or one of the most expensive or
even the most budget-oriented Cyprus
hotels.” His eyes gleamed again with that same unusual shine which I noticed
when he sat there at the table, looking at me. “I was in one of the best
Famagusta hotels. I must say,” he gave a little laugh and then continued. “It
was, in fact, a beach hotel which I selected. It was a hotel for everyone. Our all
inclusive holiday deal proved to be very beneficial for us.” My sons were
just crazy and were spending hours in the pool, playing with so many toys,
being provided there. “
His talk was endless. He was just saying one
thing or the other. He was just unstoppable. Perhaps, he wanted not to stop. It
doesn’t mean that we were getting bored. No, we were not getting bored. We were
all ears. We were listening to him with utmost attention, displaying our eagerness.
He talked of whose help he had taken in booking

which historical places he had gone, which gardens and beaches, he visited, how
his children were happy etc. Listening to him I understood that he was a family
man who loves being in a family a lot and wastes no moment to talk about his
family …
Our Northern Cyprus
Holidays:
Well, after a week research on what we can see
on Northern Cyprus? We decided to book our tickets. We had the option to book
either Larnaca flights or Ercan flights. We got a lot of information on the
island and we were just ready to explore the island in our own manner.
